From the time of the Han Dynasty (c. 2500 BCE), Chinese scholars have been studying the relationship between human beings, the natural world, and the surrounding cosmos. The result: A significant body of scientific observation out of which major Chinese medical theories have evolved. Closely aligned with Taoist and Buddhist philosophies, these theories address the natural physiological phenomena of Qi—the flow of vital energy—powering the human body. Among them: Yin-Yang, The Five Elements, Jingluò, and the Zang Fu organ theory.

The techniques and treatments of Traditional Chinese Medicine—including acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, body massage, and energy enhancing exercise—constitute a holistic approach to maintaining Qi in a state of balance and the body in a state of well being.
